We had a playful day today considering it was 36c at 11am (thank goodness for aircon). Aoibhie-Faith enjoyed her morning at our church play group and had a great afternoon nap which was great for me as i wasn’t feeling 100% it also meant that i got some 1 on 1 time with my biggest little love Cadhla-Rose who couldnt wait to tell me all about a new book she loved at school.
In the evening we went outside to our buildings playground with our puppy Minnie and enjoyed watching the sun go down. There was a warm breeze and the grass was lovely and soft so we got to run around with no shoes on (guilty pleasure).
Cadhla-Rose had so many questions today (what 5 year old doesn’t?) but her biggest question was why are her legs hurting so much at night time when she is trying to sleep? I had to think back to when i was little and it hit me growing pains! She was welling up and very emotional and i asked her what was wrong? She said “i dont want to grow up” i wondered why as most kids cant wait to get bigger! She then sobbed and let me know that “when you grow up you get tall and when you get tall you cant fit in your mammy and daddys laps anymore for cuddles”. She said all of this in one breath before she left out the biggest tears i had ever seen her produce.
I obviously let her know that no matter how big or old you get you always get special hugs from your parents. I told her that her Grandaddy in Australia always has a hug or two for me and i am ‘super tall’. She laughed and let me know “Mammy you will get growing pains too one day”.
