Round and round the garden you lost your teddy bear.
A one step… Two steps…OH I found him under there!
Wait… What?
Im hoping anyone reading this can understand why this nursery rhyme confused the life out of me when I heard it today by a beautiful friend and Mummy2Be. She was gobsmacked at my version and started to make me question my childhood somewhat!
Round and round the garden like a teddy bear.
A one step… Two steps… Tickle you under there.
Of course Mylittleloves reaffirmed my singing madness and assured me that “Mammy, YES you are right”. However, Grace’s face said it all! “Why wouldn’t you want to find the bear you have lost, he could be hiding anywhere”.
So this leads me to my “very important” question of the weekend!
Which version did you know and love?
I must admit this was more a song I remember singing with my Nana Peggy to my Littlest sister Gillian. Mylittleloves always sing it to one another so we are ready to find out the truth!
The nursery rhyme that was always close to my heart was “The owl and the pussycat” which my first Biglove (Daddy Sheehy) successfully sung to Me every night before bed.
It is amazing how many memories poured back into my mind before bedtime this evening. So, I must say thank you to the crazy Northern Irish friend Grace who entered all this madness into my head! Also thank you to Reform in the Lakes for an incredible afternoon. Click on the link above to check out their Facebook page for any offers. The food was amazing and the kids where very happy, Win…Win!!
