This weekend we had the pleasure of escaping to Pier 7 to dine in Fume, which is located on the 1st floor. The walk to Fume was an adventure in itself as we over looked the marina whilst following the rainbow to our foodie destination.
Fume means “smoke” in French and this name carries on into the type of food they serve. Smoky, slow cooked soul food with Latin and Asian inspirations. Dreamy mouth watering, satisfaction is guaranteed. In line with Dubai’s happening food trend, the food is made to share. The interior décor is very ‘old school’ giving off an overall casual vibe, which Mr Amazing and I couldn’t get enough of.
We where there to try out the Saturday Kids Brunch which lets face it , Is normally more hassle then its worth. Those parents who say “I LOVE brunching with mylittleloves!”
In all honesty – Who actually likes going to a brunch with children? Well Fume have put so much thought into every aspect of this brunch it certainly changed our views.
The Brunch is from 12-4pm and is very affordable at 31DHS all you can eat and drink. Yes. No mistakes in the above price. There is a big padded area for children to play in with ‘old favourite’ toys, which the kids couldn’t get enough of. There was an entertainer making balloon animals, face painting and just genuinely playing with the children.
The children where spoilt for choice with a buffet that kept on dishing out their favourites; Fried Calamari, Mac and Cheese, Macaroni Meat Balls, Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Grilled Corn On The Cob just to name a few. They could pick their own juices and the best part of the day? Making your own ice-cream sundaes!
Adults then just pick food off the menu so it is up to you what you order and spend. Prices are very reasonable and diners should take note that one main and a few sides are probably enough for two to share. We started with French Onion Soup, which came with Cheesy Dough, Chicken Wings and then due to a few to many cocktails last night I ordered a side of Mac & Cheese –A must try!
We then went on to have the six-hour Smoked Beef Chuck Rib with Slaw. Which is described as “a hungry man’s portion of smoked ribs” – it is tender meat coated in a very distinct smoky flavour. Pure heaven in my eyes. Our server took the liberty of adding to the order grilled portabello mushrooms with garlic ponzu butter – I was so happy he did. The tender mushrooms were a great accompaniment with both dishes we had ordered. We where so impressed that our server knew the menu inside out and just knew we couldn’t not try it! We also ordered the Sirloin Steak, which was lovely but just a bit to big. This is a dish for two in my eyes – learn from us and don’t be greedy!
Sides do not come with the dishes so you must order them separately, don’t worry though as they are all delicious and there are so many to choose from. We chose the Smashed Potatoes with Crème Fraise and Bacon. Obviously the Portobello mushrooms that our waiter ordered, French fries and wok charred green beans in xo sauce! All amazing but once again – between two, slightly to much.
Last but not least the desert menu! I genuinely would have tried everything on the menu. Sadly we where fit to burst so we shared one between us. My choice of course (Sorry Hubby). The Monster Shake. WOW… Each ingredient was well balanced. We relished in every morsel.
I would absolutely recommend the Saturday Brunch for Children. I would also recommend going back on a date night as their Bar looked exceptional and with cocktails starting from 38DHS? We wont complain!
