I hoped Ed Sheeran would be my inspiration this morning. His music has been on shuffle for over an hour, but instead of being creatively ignited by his soulful voice and beautiful lyrics, I have merely been bobbing my head up and down and singing at the top of my lungs, in the midst of an imaginary crowd of musicians, surrounded by no one, but mylittleloves dog “Mimi”. Hubby is away and mylittleloves have managed to sleep through their Mammy’s whaling voice. I still cannot believe I am awake before them!?
The lounge chair in the living room is ‘calling’ me. I am driven to try a new space. With a cup of Barry’s tea and magnolia bakery cup cakes in hand, Yes – the breakfast of champions. I rest my head on the coziest part of our corner couch with a hope for the caffeine to kick in and hopefully my creative flow to come rushing back. I haven’t written a proper blog post since our holidays in Portugal and truthfully, I feel I haven’t really slept either.
Our first week of Summer Holidays and we are all a little cranky from the heat. Nothing we can’t handle though. The house is spilling out from every corner, screaming for my attention or at least a little dettol action.
Cadhla-Rose misses school and a routine but I think that is more to do with little love Aoibhie beating her up daily. The main fight is usually over the t.v remote. Aoibhie screaming at her sister and pinning her down until she changes from her favourite shows to “Paw Patrol” or “Spiceworld”. Cadhla-Rose is missing her friends! They have all escaped for greener pastures (oh to be able to breath again) – we really can’t blame them. We are saved most days by iPads and Netflix!
Ramadan was so peaceful and chilled this year. Due to the half day hours for fasting – Mr Amazing walked through the door most days at 3pm and that’s when the fun would start. The Sun would go down over an over bearing hot sandy desert and we would head straight to the pool for a cool down and enjoy all those melting moments that families cherish. Although Ramadan is now over we still get these moments, just a little closer to bedtime!
Truth be told I LOVE SUMMER. Summer in Dubai? I must be insane. It is just so much calmer, maybe people don’t have the energy to be anything but calm! Either way we are going to enjoy as many family days as possible, lap up the all inclusive getaways that cost a fraction of the normal price, rock up to the petrol station at any time we like because it is so quiet, enjoy a shopping trip without our toes being stepped on and watching sunsets from any beach with no one around (just to name a few) …Ah the simple life!
Happy Monday Lovelies 🙂
