Apparently this is the ‘feeling good’ week in pregnancy as nausea should subside and mood swings will have lessened and, if you are one of the lucky mama’s to be, your skin and hair will be glowing.
I say BS! BS to all those things!
Nausea is still at an all time high, meaning the only glow I am getting is from the afters of a little sink loving (which happens all to often). My hair is in dire need of attendance and don’t get me started on my teenage skin. I would love to tell you that the mood is getting better (I think it has a wee bit) but secretly I think I’m to tired to get annoyed. My Little’s are killing each other and normally this would equal a telling off, turn into really mad Mama and then on to time out! This week I have been a little more Irish Mammy and all they have heard from me is – “You made a show of yourselves” and “Wait til I tell your Daddy!”
How far along? 16 Weeks
Size? As per my Ovia App (if you are pregnant click here to get app) Baby is now the size of an action figure. Just wait until baby grabs your finger with its kung fu grip!
Maternity clothes? Have not purchased anything new this week. Still living in comfy organic shorts from Mummyista.
Am I Sleeping? I am exhausted (even the days we do nothing) and seem to be in bed before 8pm most evenings. I tend to sleep then and wake between 5 and 6am. A bit early obviously but I’d imagine my body isn’t used to this much sleep! Also seem to be having nightmares a lot more then usual. The kind of dreams that you are running so much you wake up feeling sore! Whinge, whinge, whinge! haha
Best moment this week? Finding out one of my besties is due a month after me for the 2nd time… Love being able to chat to someone at the same stage.
Miss anything? Food. I really am missing food. I want to eat everything but I just don’t want to see my favourite options a few hours later 😉
Any Movement? A small bit of movement in the evenings when I get into bed.
Food Cravings? Does Ice count as food? Have also eaten a lot of skittles this week!
Looking forward to? Hearing news! I have two friends and my little Sister due this month! The excitement is like nothing else!!
Pregnancy related Item I have loved this week? Love Love Loving my new BBHugMe pillow from Bebeetmoi (an organic baby boutique on instagram). It really is getting me into the right position to sleep. Have to do a blog post soon on this must have!
1 thing I am currently having trouble with? Hypermesis is kicking my ass for my 3rd pregnancy and I just cannot wait for Jan to say “I survived it 3 times” and feel excited about the outcome! Stay tuned for a post about this also – Its one I have poured my heart into as I never thought It would appear 3rd baby later!
1 moment I loved this past week? Getting out of the house! Helen from ‘The Mothership DXB’ hosted an event #motherhoodyourway and myself and my friend Paula (who is due any day) did not want to miss it. The panel of women – Kate from TKD Lingerie, Sarah from luxe carriers, Hazel from babies and beyond and Joanne Jewell of mindful parenting UAE all gave insights and advice for pregnancy and the journey after pregnancy! All while the Little’s got a free play at Fairytales (one of their favourites) so all and all it was a really helpful morning.
1 thing I plan to do for myself this week? I am going to go back to IKEA. Mr O is gone to France and If you are following me on Instastories you will know how much I love Ikea. Not only as I love walking around and picking up ideas and bits. No. I love that If you have a family card – the kids are looked after for 90min. For FREE! Oh and did I mention they then get an ice-cream after their play? Honestly – Music to my ears.
In other news – They say at 16 weeks, you are getting to the point where the blob in you’re belly has more people thinking “baby” and not just thinking “burgers.”
Considering I am definitely not eating any burgers (sadly) my challenge now is to try and embrace my body’s new shape and think of every pound I am putting on as a sign of good health for the both of us. So this week I will attempt to eat more (and attempt to keep it down) and start to embrace it!
Love, Helly xx
