Do you ever feel like your brain is on autopilot? I honestly don’t know how I get from points A to Z sometimes. Anxiety is hitting me a lot this summer and Mammy guilt hitting me even harder then normal. Somehow we manage to get through a day of playing, reading, a movie, swimming, perhaps an out of the house activity, dinner and finally get home for the bedtime routine, and then you end up in bed wondering “how did I get back here?”
It all seems to repetitive yet If all the above happens in one day lately, I have a sense of pride that the Little’s had a good day.
* Emotional – Really finding it tough this summer. It seems all my friends have gone on holidays and not only do I have major guilts that the Little’s have not had many play dates. I am also selfishly missing my friends. I miss my village of mammy’s that chat nonsense while the Little’s play and cause destruction. Really have singer Akon”s “lonely, I am so lonely feels!”
*Tired – (From doing nothing) – Going to blame pregnancy but it could be the Dubai heat to I guess.
*Excited – for some exciting collaborations on the blog(watch this space). Also excited for the end of August to come – When all our friends return.
*Overwhelmed – (see above).
READING: If you like Jane Austen, you will love “Emma” by Alexander McCall. Emma is written as contemporary small-town girl who worries over dinner parties, likes her gin and tonics and drives a Mini Cooper. I just love how the Author modernized the characters but keeps the storyline pretty much the same!
THINKING ABOUT: Homework for the Little’s. They love getting a few tasks to do each day and it certainly keeps all of our brain’s active! Aoibhie is loving her new hand writing book. A very simple dot to dot style book that teaches her how to cursive write. Whilst Little red is really loving her David Walliam’s books that her Granddad bought her. She has completed “Mr Stink” and is now on to “Gangsta Granny”. Once they are finished she has decided she will write a book report for each. If this happens I will be amazed!
LISTENING: Ed Sheeran! On repeat! November won’t be long coming and even though we saw him less then a year ago – I am so excited already! He really is a one man band and yet makes you feel every emotion going at his concerts. I will be quite pregnant at this stage and at the time of booking I wasn’t so we got standing seats. Thinking about bringing a beach chair into the stadium. Do ye think anyone will notice?
WATCHING: On Netflix – “Friends from College”. As soon as this was advertised on Netflix I couldn’t wait to get a glimpse. With such an all star cast and what looked to be a set up like “Friends” what could go wrong? It is about six friends from Harvard who are trying to stay in contact and stay young and fresh as they enter their 40’s. It really did have all the ingredients for a great comedy. For me it the humour was a bit mean? After episode 2 I struggled to continue watching. I moved back to “Fresh Meat” a wittier UK comedy about student life with Jack Whitehall – Don’t tell Mr O but I have the biggest crush on his blue eyes. Obviously Mr O is a lot funnier though… So may as well stick it out with Mr O!
EXCITED FOR: My Little Sister Gillian to POP! Literally waiting by the phone daily and holding out for the good news! This will be her 2nd baby within 2 years (supermammy). Her little boy Ollie is 1.5 and now she is expecting a GIRL! There is something so magical about a new baby!
PLANNING: A stay-cation for Aoibhie’s 5th Birthday! I cannot believe she is almost 5! We let her know the hotel’s in Dubai we had in mind and then she decided which one she wanted to go to. I am positive she based her choice on the fact she LOVES their kids club and the fast that you step out of the bedroom straight into your lagoon. As Aoibhie is a Dubai water baby this is totally her! Check it out by clicking here.
LOOKING OUT FOR: A new maternity pillow. The one I got for a gazillion Dirhams is not cutting the mustard and is making me uncomfortable while sleeping. Any suggestions welcome! Going to spend the day checking Mumzworld and Db Babies for inspiration.
Thanks for dropping by!
Love Helly xx
